Exercise Reduces Cancer Risk

Regular exercise significantly reduces your chance of developing many types of cancer by reducing obesity, improving your immune system and regulating hormone levels.

Exercise And Cancer Risk

Exercise can significantly reduce the chance of getting many cancers, and can also help to stop them coming back after treatment. Here are some examples -

  • Breast Cancer. There is strong evidence for exercise reducing your chances of developing breast cancer, but  studies have shown that other factors such as the type of cancer and family history of cancer also play a part in the amount of exercise you need to take to be of benefit
  • Bowel Cancer. Even an hour's exercise a week reduces the chances of developing bowel cancer, but exercising moderately five times a week can reduce your chances by 40-50%, with higher exercise levels showing even greater benefit
  • Lung, Prostate & Endomertial Cancer. Regular exercise can reduce your chance of developing these by up to 40%.
