EarCalm Spray (5ml) [P]
EarCalm Spray is used for treatment of superficial infections of the external ear canal.
EarCalm Spray is an ear spray for application to the external ear canal. The spray is non-pressurised and does not contain CFCs.
EarCalm Spray contains: Acetic acid (glacial) Ph. Eur. 2% w/w, an antibacterial agent and pH adjuster. This is the active ingredient to treat your condition.
Before using a new bottle of EarCalm Spray
Before you start to use a new bottle of EarCalm, press the actuator down several times until you get a fine spray. When doing this make sure not to point the nozzle at yourself or someone else. This action is called "priming". The bottle is now ready for use.
Each time the actuator is pressed down one metered dose will be delivered.
Using EarCalm Spray
- Place the nozzle tip gently into your ear opening and press the actuator once to deliver the correct dose.
- The nozzle tip should always be in place when using EarCalm. It can be removed for cleaning but it should always be put back on afterwards, making sure it has clicked back into place.
How to use EarCalm Spray
- One metered dose in each affected ear at least three times daily (morning, evening and after swimming, showering or bathing), or as directed by your doctor/pharmacist. Maximum dosage frequency one spray every 2-3 hours.
- If you forget to use EarCalm don't worry. Use it as soon as you remember then go on as before.
- Do not use for more than 7 days. If pain occurs during use, or if symptoms worsen or do not improve within 48 hours or your hearing becomes impaired, stop treatment and consult your doctor.
If EarCalm Spray is not used for over a week
If you have not used EarCalm Spray for more than a week, press the actuator a few times until you get a fine spray again, and then follow the instructions above. Don't forget to shake the bottle well before using.
Use within one month of first use.
Active ingredient of EarCalm Spray is:
- Acetic acid (glacial) Ph. Eur. 2% w/w
Other ingredients are: Ethoxylated (2) stearyl alcohol, Ethoxylated (20) stearyl alcohol, Stearyl alcohol, Methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), Propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), Purified water.
When EarCalm Spray should not be used
- Do not use EarCalm if you have a known sensitivity or allergy to any of the constituents of the product
- If you are known to have a perforated ear drum consult your doctor prior to use.
- Not recommended for children under 12 years of age except under medical supervision.
- Do not inhale the spray by mouth or nose or spray near the eyes.
After using EarCalm Spray
- After use, wipe clean the nozzle lip with a tissue to remove any ear wax residue.
- If sensitivity or allergy develops during usage, then you should stop treatment and consult your pharmacist or doctor.
- A few people may experience a temporary stinging or burning sensation for the first few days of treatment.
- Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any unwanted effects after using EarCalm.
