Cholesterol
Cholesterol is an essential building block of every cell in your body which has incorrectly been associated with atherosclerosis and heart disease. There are different types of cholesterol, the 'bad' LDL and the 'good' HDL. It is the ratio of one to another that is the most important, as well as having enough antioxidants in your blood to prevent oxidation of cholesterol, which is the most dangerous form of all. Statin drugs have become popular to lower cholesterol levels, but these do not alter your risk of death.
