
Clotrimazole Cream 1%
Clotrimazole Cream 1% is available as a Generic Medicine in the following packs:
Clotrimazole Cream 20g is used to treat fungal infections such as athlete's foot , ringworm and fungal nappy rash.
Clotrimazole Cream 1% contains the same active ingredient as some branded medicines e.g. Canesten Cream.
Clotrimazole can also be used to treat fungal infections in the breast fold (intertrigo) and the external symptoms of infections associated with thrush such as irritation of the vulva (candidal vulvitis) or the end of the penis (candidal balanitis). Other uses of Clotrimazole Cream include the treatment of fungal infections around the fingernails (paronychia) , and certain other fungal infections (erythrasma and pityriasis).
How to use Almus Clotrimazole Cream:
Apply the cream to the affected area of the skin two or three times daily for at least two weeks. In some cases however, Clotrimazole Cream needs to be applied for more than four weeks.
If you are using Clotrimazole Cream for a foot infection, you should ensure that the feet, especially between the toes, are washed and dried thoroughly before application.
All infected areas should be kept clean and you should avoid scratching the infected areas. It is best to keep infected areas dry and exposed to air whenever possible.

Itching and soreness should improve after a few days although redness and scaling may take longer to improve.
If you forget an application of Clotrimazole Cream, use it as soon as you remember and carry on as usual afterwards.
Clotrimazole Cream Ingredients: Clotrimazole 1% B.P. as the active substance, sorbitan stearate, polysorbate 60, cetyl esters wax, stearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, 2-octyldodecanol, benzyl alcohol and water.
Clotrimazole is one of a group of medicines known as Imidazoles: Medicines of this group are used to treat skin infections caused by several types of fungi.
Do not to use Clotrimazole Cream:
- In people who have had an allergic reaction to clotrimazole or any of the other ingredients of Clotrimazole Cream
- During pregnancy or breast-feeding without consulting a doctor
The cream contains cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol, which may cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis).
If you are using Clotrimazole Cream on the vulva or penis and using rubber contraceptives such as condoms or diaphragms, you should take alternative contraceptive precautions for at least five days after using Clotrimazole Cream.
Clotrimazole Cream is for external use only and should not be used in the mouth. If it is accidentally swallowed you should consult a doctor immediately.
A few people experience slight burning or irritation after using Clotrimazole Cream. If you cannot tolerate this, stop treatment and consult your doctor or pharmacist.
If your symptoms get worse or you react badly to this cream, stop treatment immediately and consult your doctor or pharmacist.
