Herbal Remedies

Herbal remedies have been used for thousands of years, and it is only in the last fifty years that synthetic drugs have edged them out of current medical use. However, herbal remedies are coming back into popularity now that people are appreciating the side effects that single ingredient drugs are causing, and are looking for alternatives that are gentler on the system. Many herbal remedies can be extremely effective, but it would be foolish to think that they are completely safe, and care should be exercised in chosing and using them. Just because they are 'natural' does not mean they can not cause harm. They also suffer from the problem of standardisation.
